Until a relatively mild storm rolled in bringing with a light drizzle and a 25-degree reduction in the temperatures, it was so hot that it was difficult to do any hiking; the searing glare just drains the energy out of you, and our packs were heavily weighted down with extra bottles of water.
In spite of that, and in spite of missing the superbloom, we still caught some beautiful wildflower displays, and of course Death Valley is always a beautiful place.
